Frequently asked questions...

When will downloads be available? All our handbooks have been optimised to get the best display on screen and on paper. As a result most handbooks have a file size of 36-176MB. To achieve a file size for a handbook which would be suitable for downloading in an acceptable time would compromise image quality. We are looking into improved compression software and alternative methods of delivery.

When will a handbook for the Comet be available? We are talking to the Tank Museum about which handbooks would be appropriate for publication. These possibilities include Comet, Sherman and Stalwart and other tanks from around the world.

What handbooks will be available soon? In the short term we will be producing the User Handbook for Humber Scout Car, FV432 and Saracen. A Technical handbook will be produced for the Chieftain. Longer term we will be producing handbooks for T55 in English and T72 in German.

Which version of Adobe Reader do I require? All our handbooks are created with Adobe Acrobat Professional Version 9 and require Adobe Reader 9 to be on the host computer. For Microsoft Windows a copy of Adobe Reader 9 is included on the CD. For users of other operating systems please check the system requirements with Adobe and, if necessary obtain the relevant copy which is compatible with version 9 or higher.

Can I print my handbook? Yes, all handbooks are built so that printing is enabled. A light watermark appears on every page which does not obscure text or illustrations. We decided that this method of document protection would be the least instrusive to the user.

Why are some segments of the text underlined? This is a ‘hyperlink’ or shortcut to another part of the handbook. It is used to move to the item which is being referenced such as a figure, page or paragraph. By using the ‘next and previous view’ facility of Adobe Reader it is possible to move through relevant sections of a handbook very quickly.

I have an original handbook for XXXX. Are you interested in publishing it? If the vehicle is armoured, the handbook is in reasonable condition, and subject to copyright restrictions then we can investigate the possibility. Part of our publication process includes cleaning up poor quality pages but there are limits to what can be achieved. Please contact us by email.

What types of handbook do you produce? We will produce any handbook which is related to armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) such as tanks, scout cars, armoured cars, ambulances, recovery vehicles, personnel carriers. We produce mainly user handbooks and technical descriptions and may produce more specialised material in the future.

Why are your prices so low? We wish to make our publications widely available. Much time is used in the preparation of a handbook but once the preparation is complete then the costs of reproduction are kept to a minimum by using PDF file formats and CD media.
